FAQs
We are sorry to announce that Habitat will no longer be offering the gift list service in its current form for new users. We apologise for any upset or inconvenience this may cause our valued customers and we hope to review our online services in 2009.
| Why do I have to be a resident of mainland UK to register a pledge account? | |
| When the pledge account closes an electronic gift service card is activated with the value of the pledges. Gift card can only be accepted as payment in Habitat stores in mainland UK. If you live outside the UK mainland, but are willing to shop and spend in mainland UK, then you can apply! Also, please note that Habitat can only accept credit/debit cards that are registered inside the mainland UK. It is not possible to pledge to a gift list if you reside outside the mainland UK and do not have a credit/debit card registered in the UK | |
| What do I do if there isn't enough in my pledge account to pay for what I want? | |
| No problem. You can put whatever's on your Habitat Gift Service Card towards it, and make up the rest yourself — or better still, get someone else to do it. | |
| I've run out of pledge cards. How do I get some more? | |
| Wow, you're popular. You can order more cards in-store or by calling 08 444 99 1123. Your new cards will only take a few days to arrive. | |
| How do I arrange my shopping day? | |
| Just call us on 08 444 99 1123, and we'll make all the arrangements for you. | |
| Is there a limit to the amount of money you can have on a Gift Service Card? | |
| This is a frequently-asked question? There must be more millionaires out there than we thought. Anyway, the answer's no. There's no limit. Whatever's in your pledge account, however ginormous, will be transferred in full onto your Habitat Gift Service Card. | |
| Is there an expiry date on a Gift Service Card? | |
| Yes there is, it's a generous 2 years from the last date the card was used to make a financial transaction in one of our stores. (Though it beats us why you'd want to wait 2 years to use it.) | |
| Once my list has closed, how can I start to spend? | |
| All you need to do is call the gift service administrator on 08 444 99 1123 and they will issue your gift card to you. Once this arrives you will just need to call again and the administrator will activate it for you. You are then ready to spend! | |
| How far ahead of my big event should I set up a pledge account? | |
| To allow for maximum generosity from your friends and family, we'd recommend somewhere between eight to twelve weeks. | |
| And when should it close? | |
| Again, it's up to you, but we'd recommend somewhere between two weeks and a month after your special day/event to make sure even your most disorganised friends don't miss out. Whatever your big day, please make sure that you do not set the pledge account to close on the very big day you are celebrating or just before. Once a list is closed, no one can make pledges or access the account, so last minute well wishers may miss out! | |
| I have an account with you and my guests have complained they cannot pledge! The system comes up with "page not found". | |
| In most cases it is due to the fact that the event closing date has passed. This locks the account and disables it to any further pledges. In order to unlock it you need to call our administrator on 08 444 99 1123 or e-mail at gift.services@habitat.co.uk | |
| Can I keep my pledge anonymous? | |
| Yes, you can. (Generous and modest. We're impressed.) | |
| Can I keep the amount I've given secret? | |
| As the account holder gets a statement showing the total pledges, that's a bit harder to manage. It's probably easier just to pledge anonymously. See above. | |
| Is there a minimum age for a pledge account? | |
| No there isn't. However we don't accept cash for the service, so anyone who wants to pledge will need to be old enough to have a debit or credit card in their name. | |
| Is there a maximum that can be pledged? | |
| Although there's a minimum of £10 for any single pledge, there's no maximum limit, and the amount that can be held in a pledge account is limited only by the generosity of your friends and family. Which could come in handy if you have any billionaires for friends (and if you don't, maybe it's time you did). | |
| I've forgotten/lost my event ID. How do I log on? | |
| Easy. Go to 'Pledge Now', fill in the surname or date of the occasion and it will bring up a search with your event ID. You can then use it to sign in as usual. | |
| What happens if I move house? | |
| Also easy. Just call us on 08 444 99 1123 and we'll update our records. | |
| Do I have to arrange a special shopping day to spend what's on my Gift Service Card? | |
| Not at all. If you fancy a little extra pampering, we'd love to arrange a shopping day for
you, but if you don't, we won't. After all, it's your card, it's your money, and you're more than
welcome to use it in any Habitat store |
|
| How does the free delivery bit work? | |
| Obviously, it doesn't make much sense for us to arrange to deliver something that you can take away with you from the store. But anything we have to order for you — a bed, for instance — we'll deliver for free, just as long as you spend over £200, and you advise the store assistant that you're paying by Gift Service Card before you make your order. | |
